Our Ceylon loose leaf black tea from Vithanakande Estate is a refined single-estate tea with beautifully selected silver and golden-tipped leaves, a deep amber liquor and a smooth, elegant flavour. Gentle malt, soft dried fruit notes and a quiet molasses-like richness make this a truly rewarding cup — excellent taken black, softened with milk or finished with a little honey.
Ceylon Loose Leaf Black Tea from Vithanakande Estate
Vithanakande Silver Tip is a distinguished black tea from the family-owned Vithanakande Estate in Sri Lanka’s Ratnapura district. Grown in the Sabaragamuwa region, close to the ancient Sinharaja rainforest, the estate is known for orthodox teas with impressive leaf style and depth of flavour.
This tea is graded FBOPEXSP, or Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe Extra Special, reflecting its careful selection and attractive wiry leaf. The dry tea is striking in appearance: dark, elegant strands marked by a distinctive silver and golden spine.
A Smooth and Refined Single Estate Ceylon Tea
In the cup, Vithanakande Silver Tip brews to a rich, clear amber infusion with a warmly inviting aroma. The flavour is polished and rounded, offering gentle malt at the front, a subtle mineral quality through the middle and soft notes of dried fruit and molasses on the finish.
It is full of character without being heavy, making it an excellent choice for tea drinkers who appreciate black tea with depth, smoothness and a more nuanced, estate-led profile.
Elegant Enough for Black Drinking, Versatile Enough for Milk
This Ceylon loose leaf black tea is especially satisfying served plain, where its mineral depth and fruit-like sweetness are easiest to appreciate. A small splash of milk creates a softer, warmer cup and brings the malty notes forward beautifully.
A touch of honey is also a lovely pairing, gently enhancing the dried fruit character without overwhelming the tea itself. That versatility makes Vithanakande Silver Tip a rewarding choice for both attentive tasting and everyday enjoyment.
A Distinctive Tea from Sri Lanka’s Sabaragamuwa Region
Sri Lanka has a long and celebrated tea heritage, and Vithanakande shows why Ceylon tea remains so highly regarded. Its family-owned estate, distinctive growing environment and commitment to orthodox manufacture all contribute to a tea that feels careful, authentic and genuinely individual.
For those looking beyond standard breakfast blends, this is a Ceylon black tea with far more personality — smooth, quietly complex and memorable in the cup.
How to Brew Vithanakande Silver Tip Black Tea
Use water cooled slightly after boiling, ideally around 90°C. Add one heaped teaspoon per cup and steep for 3 to 4 minutes, adjusting to your preferred strength.
The leaves can reward a second infusion, which is usually lighter and softer than the first. Drink black to appreciate the tea’s mineral and fruit notes most clearly, add a small amount of milk for a rounder malty cup, or try a drizzle of honey for a gently sweeter finish.

Excellent balance, not too bitter, not too strong. As a tea lover, this is one of my favourites.
added Vithannakanda Silver Tips to my selection of afternoon teas. A very pleasant brew indeed.
Don't buy it, it's too good for you. Mine.
You sent the wrong tea
Extremely pleasant and helpful advice in selecting a number of teas.
Once again I can experience great quality tea as opposed to overpriced "swept tea dust" from supermarkets sold as loose leaf tea.
Fast delivery in great eco friendly packaging.
Highly recommend High Teas London for quality experience.
