Our Keemun Huangshan Orange Pekoe 1 loose leaf black tea is a refined Chinese black tea from Anhui’s Huangshan region, with a deep amber-red liquor, smooth aromatic body and a naturally sweet, lingering finish. Elegant rather than heavy, it offers soft stone-fruit notes, a gentle floral lift and delicate spicy warmth — a beautifully composed cup to enjoy with or without milk.
Keemun Huangshan Orange Pekoe 1 Loose Leaf Black Tea
Keemun Huangshan Orange Pekoe 1 loose leaf black tea is a fine whole-leaf Chinese black tea with the poise and aromatic depth that have made Keemun one of China’s most admired tea styles. The OP1 grade gives a long, wiry leaf and a smoother, more elegant cup than more everyday broken-leaf black teas.
This is a tea with quiet complexity: refined enough to drink slowly, yet approachable enough to enjoy as a regular morning or afternoon black tea.
Smooth, Aromatic and Naturally Sweet
In the cup, this Keemun Huangshan Orange Pekoe 1 loose leaf black tea brews to a deep, glowing amber-red liquor with a gentle, lifted bouquet. The flavour is smooth and lightly aromatic, with notes of stone fruit, a soft floral edge and a delicate spicy warmth that lingers cleanly on the finish.
It is a composed black tea with very little harshness, making it especially appealing for those who enjoy flavour and fragrance over sheer strength. Comparable Keemun descriptions from specialist retailers likewise emphasise a soft, aromatic and subtly spicy profile.
Orange Pekoe 1 Keemun from Anhui
Orange Pekoe 1 is a leaf grade rather than a flavour description. Here it denotes a long, well-made whole leaf that produces a refined, carefully balanced cup. The Huangshan and wider Anhui association gives this tea strong provenance within the Keemun tradition, while the finished cup remains polished, smooth and quietly expressive.

A Refined Chinese Black Tea for Any Time of Day
Keemun Huangshan Orange Pekoe 1 is equally at home as a considered morning tea or a calm afternoon cup. Taken black, its stone-fruit sweetness and floral lift show most clearly. With a small amount of milk, it becomes rounder while still retaining its aromatic character.
How to Brew Keemun Huangshan Orange Pekoe 1
Use water at around 90°C to 95°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
A 3-minute brew gives a lighter, more aromatic cup. A 4-minute infusion develops fuller amber depth and a little more of the tea’s gentle spicy warmth.
This tea is excellent without milk, though it takes a small splash gracefully. A second, slightly shorter infusion is also worth trying.
