Grown at high altitude and graded GFBOP, it offers malty strength, gentle floral lift and a distinctive fruit-led complexity — a superb choice for black tea drinkers who want something bold, refined and genuinely different.
Kenyan Loose Leaf Black Tea from Milima Estate
Kenya Milima Estate GFBOP is a remarkable single-estate black tea from the Kericho highlands, far removed from the brisk CTC teas more commonly associated with East Africa.
The name Milima means “mountain” or “high place” in Swahili, and altitude plays an important role in the tea’s character. Grown at around 6,000 feet, the leaf develops slowly, helping to build aroma, body and complexity.
Rare Orthodox-Style Kenyan Black Tea
This tea is processed in the orthodox style at the Saosa Factory, producing a twisted loose leaf with generous golden tips and a more layered character than standard cut black teas.
The GFBOP grade gives a lively, well-structured cup with good body, while the careful manufacture preserves the tea’s floral and fruit-led qualities.
Malty, Floral and Beautifully Complex
In the cup, Milima Estate brews to a bright coppery-orange liquor with excellent clarity. The flavour is rich and malty at its core, but far from one-dimensional.
A subtle floral note lifts the cup, while deeper fruit and spice nuances bring a smooth, wine-like complexity. The finish is clean and lingering, giving the tea a notably polished feel.

Excellent Black or with Milk
Served black, this Kenyan loose leaf black tea shows its more refined side, with floral lift and fruit-like depth coming through clearly.
With milk, the cup becomes rounder and more comforting, highlighting the maltier notes without losing its individuality. It is a very rewarding afternoon or evening black tea for those who appreciate strength with finesse.
How to Brew Kenya Milima Estate GFBOP
Use freshly drawn water at around 95°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes for a bright, lively infusion.
For greater body and depth, extend the brew to around 5 minutes. Drink black to appreciate the more delicate floral notes, or add milk for a fuller, maltier cup.
