Our Citrus Earl Grey loose leaf tea Baroness Grey Blend is a bright, elegant black tea layered with bergamot, orange pieces, lime leaves, rose petals and cornflower petals. More citrus-forward and gently floral than a classic Earl Grey, it brews to a warm coppery cup with lifted lemon freshness, aromatic depth and a smooth finish — a distinctive tea for mid-morning, afternoon or any moment that deserves something a little more refined.

Citrus Earl Grey Loose Leaf Tea with Orange, Rose and Cornflowers

Baroness Grey Blend takes the familiar charm of Earl Grey and adds extra layers of citrus and flower for a livelier, more expressive cup. Bergamot provides the classic aromatic foundation, while orange pieces, lime leaves and a bright lemon note bring freshness, light tartness and a more delicate finish.

Cornflower and rose petals soften the blend beautifully, adding floral elegance to the black tea base without making the cup feel perfumed or overly sweet.

Brighter and More Floral Than a Classic Earl Grey

In the cup, this Citrus Earl Grey loose leaf tea pours a clear, warm coppery amber with generous aroma and satisfying body. The bergamot is present from the first sip, followed by orange warmth, a clean lemon-lime lift and a softly floral finish.

The result is full-flavoured but polished — recognisably Earl Grey in spirit, yet more layered and distinctive in character.

A Refined Black Tea for Mid-Morning or Afternoon

Baroness Grey is especially well suited to those moments when a standard black tea feels a little plain, but a heavily flavoured blend would be too much. It has brightness, fragrance and enough structure to feel satisfying either with or without milk.

It is elegant enough for a proper sit-down tea, yet easy enough to become a regular favourite.

At a Glance

  • Key flavours: Bergamot, orange, lemon and lime
  • Floral notes: Rose petals and cornflower petals
  • Liquor: Warm coppery amber
  • Character: Citrusy, gently floral, smooth and lively

Excellent Without Milk, Soft and Rounded with It

Served black, Baroness Grey shows its brightest side. The bergamot, lemon and lime notes feel clear and lively, while the petals add a gentle floral softness.

A small dash of milk creates a rounder, more classic-style cup, muting the sharper citrus edge slightly while preserving the blend’s aromatic appeal.

How to Brew Baroness Grey Blend

Use freshly boiled water cooled slightly to around 95°C. Add one heaped teaspoon per cup and steep for 3 to 4 minutes.

A 3-minute brew gives a lighter, more floral and citrus-led cup. A 4-minute infusion brings out more black tea body and a slightly fuller finish.

Avoid over-steeping, as the black tea base may become bitter if left too long.

Ingredients

Black tea, orange pieces, cornflower petals, rose petals, lime leaves, natural flavours.

Fantastic!

This particular tea was recommended to me by a friend and I've liked different blends of tea. Now that I've tried it, it's absolutely lovely and even better with lemon.

Expected more Bergamot flavours

I'm a little disappointed, perhaps I'm spoiled by Waitrose's Marquess Grey tea which has a strong bergamot flavour; this seemed really weak, even after brewing for 5 mins. I will try adding more tea next time to see if it strengthens the flavour.

Baroness Grey

A very nice tea. I alternate between this, green Earl Grey with rose petals, Russian Earl Grey, Earl Grey with Lavender and Blue Lady. They are all distinct but share a nice zesty zing which I can taste despite losing a lot of my sense of smell/taste to covid.

Use freshly boiled water (95–100°C) and steep 1 teaspoon of tea for 3–5 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. It pairs well with milk due to its malty character.
