Our Uva Pekoe Saint James Estate loose leaf black tea is a richly aromatic single-estate Ceylon with a bright red-golden cup, full spicy character and a smooth, satisfying finish. Selected from darker Pekoe leaf grown in Sri Lanka’s Uva district, it is robust enough to make an excellent breakfast tea, yet refined enough to enjoy slowly without milk.
Uva Pekoe Saint James Estate Loose Leaf Black Tea
Uva Pekoe Saint James Estate is a characterful loose leaf black tea from Sri Lanka’s celebrated Uva region, chosen for its depth, aromatic lift and beautifully balanced strength. The darker Pekoe leaf produces a cup that is richer in colour than many lighter high-grown Ceylons, while retaining the clarity and distinctive fragrance that make Uva teas so admired.
This is a Ceylon black tea with real presence: bright, warming and satisfying, with enough structure for morning drinking and enough polish for a more considered afternoon cup.
Full, Spicy and Sweetly Aromatic
In the cup, this Uva Pekoe Saint James Estate loose leaf black tea brews to a vivid red-golden liquor with a strong, lingering bouquet. The flavour is full and spicy, with a smooth, balanced finish that keeps the tea rounded rather than sharp.
It is a tea with natural confidence — aromatic enough to drink plain, yet substantial enough to take milk without losing its character.
A Distinctive Uva Pekoe for Breakfast
This Saint James Estate selection has the depth and body to justify its “Best Breakfast Choice” reputation. It is robust, richly scented and rewarding from the first sip, making it an excellent option for tea drinkers who want a morning cup with more estate character than a standard breakfast blend.
At the same time, its smoothness means it is equally enjoyable later in the day, particularly for those who appreciate single-estate Ceylon teas with warmth and aromatic complexity.

A Warming, Dependable Estate Ceylon
Uva Pekoe Saint James Estate is a tea that feels dependable without being ordinary. It has the strength needed for breakfast, but the aromatic detail to make it worth savouring slowly.
Drink it black to appreciate the full Uva bouquet, or add a little milk for a rounder, more comforting cup.
How to Brew Uva Pekoe Saint James Estate
Use freshly boiled water at 100°C and add one generous teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes for a bright, lively cup, or allow 4 to 5 minutes if you prefer a deeper, fuller brew.
This tea takes milk very well. For the clearest aromatic expression, enjoy it without milk; for a classic breakfast-style cup, add a splash after brewing.

One has to get the brewing time just so with this one. For me 2.30 to 3 minutes is optimal. Once achieved, a nice balance of fragrance, body and astringency
This was a surprise, one I should have sampled first, before buying 500 gms! Very strong, so packs a real flavour punch and saves you money at the same time. But also very high in tannin, so must NOT be left to brew for more than five minutes, lest it becomes positively medicinal (Tea Tree/Dettol comes to mind). Treated properly, a good, flavoursome, energising start to the day.
It is just for us the Dubliners Breakfast is such a nutty winner. This is good though …. just not quite my “cup of tea"
Full bodied and rounded.
This tea is delicious. I tried a different Ceylon when it was out of stock but went right back to this one when it was restocked. It's a strong brew so I would say to go easy until you know it better-it tends to get a little bitter if you use too much but get it right and it's a great, refreshing brew
