🍵 The Blend — A full-bodied breakfast tea combining black teas from China, India, and Kenya, each origin chosen for what it brings to a rounded, characterful cup
🍵 The Colour — Brews to a rich, deep amber that brightens to a warm, inviting gold when milk is added, as rewarding to the eye as it is to the palate
🍵 The Character — Lightly astringent with a clean, brisk finish — bold enough to wake you up, smooth enough to keep you coming back for a second cup
🍵 The Bags — Served in biodegradable pyramid bags, the triangular design gives the tea room to circulate freely in the water for a fuller, more satisfying infusion
Yorkshire has long been synonymous with a proper cup of tea, and the Harrogate Breakfast Brew honours that tradition entirely. This is a full-bodied black tea blend drawing on three of the world's great tea-growing regions — China, India, and Kenya — each contributing something distinct to a cup that is lightly astringent, satisfyingly rounded, and beautifully golden when taken with milk.
The choice of origins is deliberate. Chinese teas bring a certain smoothness and depth to the blend; Indian teas contribute the robust body and malty warmth that make a breakfast brew feel genuinely substantial; and Kenyan teas add brightness and a clean, brisk finish that lifts the whole cup. Together they create something greater than the sum of their parts — the kind of tea that Yorkshire folk, not easily impressed when it comes to a good brew, have long appreciated.
The pyramid bags deserve a mention of their own. The biodegradable triangular format was developed specifically to give speciality tea the space to do what it does best. Unlike flat bags which constrain the leaves, the pyramid shape allows the tea to move freely in the water, producing a fuller, more flavourful infusion from the very first steep. It is a considered detail that makes a genuine difference in the cup.
Since 2008, High Teas London has been one of the country's leading independent tea specialists, with one of the largest collections available — over 350 teas and infusions sourced from the world's finest gardens. A breakfast tea this honest and this well-made is precisely what we have always looked for.
Ingredients: Black tea (China, India, Kenya).
Brewing Note: The Yorkshire Harrogate Breakfast Brew is as straightforward to brew as a great breakfast tea should be. Place one pyramid bag in your cup or pot and pour freshly boiled water directly over it. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes depending on your preference — 3 minutes gives a lighter, brighter cup, while 5 minutes draws out more body and depth. It takes milk beautifully, which transforms the deep amber liquor to a warm, golden brew with a soft, rounded finish. If you prefer it without milk, a slightly shorter steep will keep the astringency gentle and the cup clean.
