Our Vietnamese loose leaf green tea from Tan Cuong Hoangbinh is a distinctive single-origin tea with a fresh grassy aroma, pale golden liquor and a remarkable naturally sweet finish. Grown in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam’s most celebrated green tea region, it begins with a gentle briskness before opening into lingering notes of young rice, light nuttiness and soft honeyed sweetness.
Vietnamese Loose Leaf Green Tea from Tan Cuong
Tan Cuong lies in the Thai Nguyen region of northern Vietnam, an area long regarded as the country’s finest green tea origin. Sheltered by the eastern foothills of the Tam Dao mountains, its tea gardens benefit from a stable growing climate that helps the leaves develop depth, freshness and character.
This tea comes from Hoangbinh, a respected Tan Cuong producer working within a tradition refined over generations. The result is a tea that feels authentic, expressive and genuinely different from more familiar Japanese or Chinese green tea styles.
Fresh, Brisk and Naturally Sweet
What makes Tan Cuong green tea so memorable is the way its flavour develops in the mouth. The first sip brings a clean grassy briskness and a light, pleasant bitterness at the tip of the tongue.
Then the cup changes. A deep natural sweetness emerges and lingers, joined by hints of young rice, faint nuttiness and a soft brown-sugar-like finish. It is a layered, satisfying green tea that rewards slow attention.
Traditional Vietnamese Green Tea Craft
The leaves are harvested from the native Trung Du cultivar and pan-fired to halt oxidation before being rolled into their characteristic gently twisted shape. This traditional processing preserves freshness while building the more rounded, sweet aftertaste for which Tan Cuong teas are known.
The liquor brews pale golden-yellow, clear and luminous, with a clean aroma that rises gently from the cup.

How to Brew Tan Cuong Hoangbinh Green Tea
Use water at around 75°C to 80°C. For a lighter first infusion, steep for 30 to 60 seconds. For a stronger, more traditional cup, extend the brew to around 2 minutes.
A brief rinse can also be worthwhile: pour hot water over the leaves, discard after around 10 seconds, then brew as normal. This helps open the rolled leaf and can bring the natural sweetness forward more clearly.
The leaves will usually give 2 to 3 good infusions, each becoming softer and sweeter than the last.

Vietnam - Tan Cuong Hoangbinh Green Tea
This tea is lovely, a bit gentler than my regular jade dragon yunnan fop; quite grassy, fresher perhaps. I`ll make a pot, early morning or mid afternoon, love it
Love the grassy after taste of this tea
I can appreciate this is a different kind of tea, I won’t purchase it again but it’s good to try new teas I suppose.
