British Cornish tea pyramid bags represent something genuinely rare: a loose leaf black tea blend grown, in part, on English soil. The Cornish tea in this blend comes from one of the most remarkable tea estates in the world — a garden that produces the only commercially grown tea in the United Kingdom, hand-plucked in a sheltered microclimate where the mild Cornish air and deep coastal fogs create growing conditions found nowhere else in Britain. Blended with the finest Assam to bring warmth, body, and that deeply satisfying malty character, this is a cup that feels both familiar and extraordinary.
Assam tea has been the backbone of great British blends for well over a century. Grown in the fertile Brahmaputra valley of northeast India, Assam leaves are known for their rich, brisk, full-bodied flavour and their beautiful deep liquor. When combined with the softer, more nuanced character of hand-plucked Cornish leaf, the result is a blend that is bold enough to stand up to milk yet smooth enough to be thoroughly enjoyed without. It is a genuinely British cup in the fullest sense of the word.
Each of the 15 pyramid pouches is made from cornstarch — 100% biodegradable and entirely plastic-free. Inside each one, the loose leaves have ample room to unfurl and infuse properly, giving you all the flavour and body of loose leaf tea without the need for a teapot or strainer. The smart caddy tin keeps the tea fresh and makes this an excellent gift for any tea lover — whether for a birthday, a house warming, or simply as something rather thoughtful to give or keep.
Since 2008, High Teas London has been one of the country's leading independent tea specialists. With over 350 teas and infusions — one of the largest collections in the country — our range spans the world's finest gardens, from grand Indian estates to the most unusual and unexpected origins. A Cornish and Assam blend of this quality sits at the heart of what we love to share.
Ingredients: Cornish black tea, Assam black tea.
Brewing Note: For the best cup, use freshly drawn water brought just to the boil and pour directly over the pyramid bag in your mug or cup. Allow the tea to steep for three to four minutes — whole leaves take a little longer to infuse than conventional bags, and the wait is well worth it. The pyramid pouch gives the leaves room to open fully, so resist the urge to squeeze the bag, which can introduce unwanted bitterness. This blend is excellent with a splash of milk and takes sugar well if preferred, though it is smooth and rounded enough to enjoy entirely on its own. The pyramid can be reinfused for a second, lighter cup.
