Our Bi Luo Chun loose leaf green tea, also known as Green Snail Spring, is a rare early spring Chinese green tea with tightly hand-rolled spirals, a pale luminous gold-green cup and an exceptionally smooth, fragrant finish. Delicately floral and naturally sweet, with soft peach and apricot notes, it is a beautifully refined tea for quiet mornings and unhurried afternoons.

Bi Luo Chun Loose Leaf Green Tea from Jiangsu

Bi Luo Chun loose leaf green tea is one of China’s most famous spring green teas, traditionally associated with the Dongting mountain area of Jiangsu Province. Its name translates as Green Snail Spring, referring to the tiny curled leaves, their green colour and the early spring harvest.

The finished leaf is striking: small, tightly rolled spirals that slowly unfurl in hot water, releasing a soft fragrance and a clean, beautifully layered cup.

Delicately Floral with Soft Fruit Sweetness

In the cup, this Bi Luo Chun loose leaf green tea brews to a pale golden-green infusion with a fresh, lifted aroma. The flavour is smooth and naturally sweet, with delicate floral tones, gentle fruity notes reminiscent of peach and apricot, and a clean green freshness that remains free of bitterness when brewed carefully. Similar specialist descriptions emphasise its floral fragrance, fruity aftertaste and mellow, refreshing cup.

It is an elegant green tea that rewards attention without feeling difficult — refined, soft and quietly memorable.

A Famous Early Spring Chinese Green Tea

Bi Luo Chun is traditionally made from tender early spring leaf, carefully rolled into its characteristic spiral shape. Retailer descriptions consistently highlight its spring picking, hand-rolled appearance and delicately aromatic character, all of which make it one of the most celebrated Chinese green tea styles.

This is a particularly rewarding tea for those who enjoy premium Chinese greens with natural sweetness and visual beauty in the pot.

A Tea to Savour Slowly

Bi Luo Chun Green Snail Spring is best enjoyed plain, allowing the tea’s spring freshness, floral fragrance and naturally sweet finish to remain clear. A glass cup or teapot is especially fitting, as the tightly rolled spirals gradually open and sink as they brew.

It is a tea for calm moments rather than hurried ones — delicate, graceful and full of quiet character.

How to Brew Bi Luo Chun Green Tea

Use water at around 75°C to 80°C and add approximately 2 to 3g of leaf per 200ml. Steep for 2 to 3 minutes.

A shorter infusion gives a lighter, especially fragrant cup. A slightly fuller brew develops more body while keeping the tea smooth and sweet.

The leaves will comfortably give a second and third infusion, each one becoming lighter and more delicate than the last.
