Our Ceylon black tea from Organic Ahinsa Estate is a bold, full-bodied loose leaf tea with a warm copper infusion, spicy depth and smooth, satisfying finish. Grown in south-western Sri Lanka by certified organic farmers, it is a robust and honest everyday black tea that drinks well on its own or with milk and honey.
Ceylon Black Tea from Organic Ahinsa Estate
Ahinsa Estate takes its name from the Sanskrit principle of ahimsa, meaning non-violence and respect for all living things. This philosophy shapes the way the tea is grown, farmed and produced, giving this organic Ceylon black tea a story rooted in care, sustainability and respect for the land.
The tea is grown in the Morawaka region of south-western Sri Lanka, close to sea level. This low-country growing environment helps produce a bold, weighty black tea with the strength and richness that Ceylon tea drinkers often look for.
A Bold Organic Ceylon Black Tea
This is an Orange Pekoe grade black tea, made with long, wiry, dark leaves that infuse into a warm copper-coloured cup. The liquor is clean and bright, with an inviting aroma and a satisfying depth of flavour.
In the cup, Ahinsa Estate is full-bodied and robustly spicy, with enough strength for the morning and enough smoothness for afternoon drinking. It has real substance without harshness, finishing cleanly with the rounded character that has made Ceylon black tea so enduringly popular.
Certified Organic and Carefully Grown
Ahinsa Estate is part of a certified organic farming system involving more than 180 small-scale farmers. The tea is produced without synthetic fertilisers or pesticides, allowing the character of the leaf and the growing region to come through clearly.
Its organic certification is independently verified to recognised standards, reflecting both the care behind the crop and the estate’s commitment to responsible tea production.
Best Served Black, with Milk or Honey
This is a versatile loose leaf black tea. Served black, it shows its coppery colour, spicy depth and clean finish. With milk, it becomes softer and more rounded while still keeping its backbone.
A little honey also works well, adding gentle sweetness without overpowering the tea’s natural strength. It is a good choice for anyone looking for a bold organic tea that can be enjoyed every day.
How to Brew Organic Ahinsa Ceylon Tea
Use freshly boiled water at around 95°C and one heaped teaspoon of tea per cup. Infuse for five to seven minutes to allow the full flavour to develop.
This tea rewards a longer steep, as its bold, spicy character builds gradually in the cup. For cold brewing, use a generous measure of leaf and steep in cold water in the fridge for eight to ten hours for a clean, full-flavoured iced tea.
