Our Ceylon Highgrown OP1 loose leaf black tea is a smooth, elegant Sri Lankan black tea blending selected highgrown leaf from Uva and Nuwara Eliya. Warm copper in the cup, medium in strength and gently aromatic, it balances mellow depth with brisk, lightly spiced brightness — a refined Ceylon to enjoy throughout the day, with or without milk.

Ceylon Highgrown OP1 Loose Leaf Black Tea from Uva and Nuwara Eliya

Ceylon Highgrown Special OP1 brings together two of Sri Lanka’s most admired high-altitude tea regions in one carefully balanced loose leaf black tea. The OP1 whole-leaf style is widely associated with long, wiry leaves and a more elegant cup than smaller broken grades, while highgrown Ceylon teas are especially valued for their bright liquor and lively, aromatic character.

This blend is composed enough for quiet morning drinking, yet refined enough to make a particularly pleasing afternoon cup.

Smooth, Copper-Bright and Lightly Spiced

In the cup, this Ceylon Highgrown OP1 loose leaf black tea brews to a warm copper infusion with inviting clarity. The flavour is smooth and medium-bodied, with Uva contributing mellow aromatic depth and Nuwara Eliya bringing a brighter, brisker lift.

A gentle lightly spiced quality runs through the finish, giving the tea poise and character without making it heavy or overly assertive.

A Refined OP1 Ceylon with Highgrown Character

OP1 is one of the finer whole-leaf styles associated with Ceylon black tea, producing a cup that feels more composed than a standard broken-leaf tea while still offering good body and flavour. Retailers offering comparable Ceylon Highgrown OP1 teas regularly position them as nuanced, bright and suitable for those who enjoy a more refined Sri Lankan black tea.

This Special Selection has particular appeal for customers who want a versatile Ceylon that is easy to drink, but still clearly a step above an everyday breakfast blend.

A Versatile Ceylon for Any Time of Day

Ceylon Highgrown Special OP1 works beautifully as a calm morning tea, a mid-afternoon cup or an all-day black tea when you want something polished but not overpowering.

Drink it plain to appreciate the brighter highgrown character, or add a little milk for a softer, rounder cup.

How to Brew Ceylon Highgrown Special OP1

Use freshly boiled water at around 95°C to 100°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes for a smooth, medium-strength brew.

A shorter infusion gives a lighter, more delicate cup that suits drinking without milk. A slightly longer steep develops greater body if you prefer a fuller Ceylon with a dash of milk.

Use freshly boiled water (95–100°C) and steep 1 teaspoon of tea for 3–5 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. It pairs well with milk due to its malty character.
