Our decaf English breakfast tea is made with full-leaf Ceylon OP from Sri Lanka's celebrated Dimbula district. Decaffeinated using the CO2 method, it delivers all the character of a proper morning cup — without the caffeine.

What Is Decaf English Breakfast Tea?

Indeed, Dimbula is one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated tea-growing regions. Its gardens sit at 1,200 to 1,500 metres in the island's central highlands. Cooler temperatures, misty mornings, and well-drained hillside soils slow the leaf's growth and concentrate its flavour. Orange Pekoe grade means fully unfurled, open leaves — producing a more complex, flavourful cup than broken grades.

Furthermore, this decaf English breakfast tea is decaffeinated using the CO2 process — widely regarded as the cleanest method available. CO2 under very high pressure bonds selectively with caffeine molecules. It draws them from the leaf without disturbing the oils and compounds that give good tea its character. No chemical solvents are involved at any stage.

Flavour, Character, and Occasion

In general, this decaf English breakfast tea brews to a warm amber liquor — bright, clear, and full of character. The flavour is brisk yet smooth, with a malty backbone and gentle floral notes. It takes milk beautifully as any good breakfast tea should, but holds its own without.

By contrast, this is a cup as suited to a quiet evening as to the first cup of the morning. It is made for those who want great tea at any hour — with no sleep lost.

How to Brew Decaf English Breakfast Tea

Additionally, use freshly boiled water and allow it to cool for thirty seconds — around 95°C is ideal. This protects the more delicate aromatic notes in the Dimbula leaf. Use one heaped teaspoon per cup and steep for three to four minutes. For a stronger cup, add a little more leaf rather than extending the steep time.

Moreover, this decaf English breakfast tea takes milk beautifully and is equally rewarding without. It is not suited to cold brewing. Reliable, brisk, and thoroughly satisfying — available whenever you want it, day or night.

Since 2008, High Teas London has been one of the country's leading independent tea specialists. This decaf English breakfast tea is a cup we are proud to carry.
