Our Decaffeinated Earl Grey tea is a mild loose leaf green tea blend made with decaffeinated Sencha, natural bergamot oil, orange peel and lemon peel. Light, fragrant and gently citrusy, it offers the familiar Earl Grey character in a softer, fresher style with very little caffeine.
Decaffeinated Earl Grey Tea with Sencha Green Tea
This is a lighter interpretation of one of Britain’s best-loved tea styles. Instead of the traditional black tea base, this blend uses decaffeinated Sencha green tea, giving the cup a clean, delicate and subtly grassy character.
The Sencha is carefully decaffeinated using the CO2 method, which helps preserve the colour, freshness and flavour of the leaf while removing most of the caffeine. The result is a refined green tea blend that can be enjoyed in the evening or at any time of day.
A Mild Green Tea Take on Earl Grey
Natural bergamot oil gives this tea its unmistakable Earl Grey fragrance. Bright, floral and citrusy, bergamot brings the classic aromatic lift associated with Earl Grey, but here it sits gently over the fresh green tea base rather than dominating the cup.
Orange peel and lemon peel add further brightness and a soft natural sweetness, creating a mild, balanced infusion that is fragrant without being sharp.
Light, Citrusy and Naturally Refreshing
In the cup, this tea gives a pale golden-green infusion with a clean, luminous appearance. The flavour is delicate and refreshing, with subtle grassy notes from the Sencha, classic bergamot citrus and a rounded fruit-peel sweetness.
It is ideal for those who enjoy Earl Grey but prefer something lighter than a black tea version, or for anyone looking for a low-caffeine loose leaf tea with familiar flavour and gentle character.
How to Brew Decaffeinated Earl Grey Sencha
Use water cooled slightly from the boil, ideally around 75°C to 80°C. This helps protect the green tea leaf and prevents bitterness.
Use one teaspoon of tea per cup and steep for two to three minutes. A shorter infusion keeps the cup fresh and bright, while a slightly longer steep gives more depth. This tea is best enjoyed without milk, although a small slice of lemon works well if you prefer extra citrus brightness.

The tea is nice, but not at all like the flavour of earl grey?! I will use it but will try and get the usual earl grey next time I order.
