Our Dimbula BOP tea is a bold, brisk loose leaf breakfast from Sri Lanka's celebrated Dimbula valley. Grown at high altitude, it delivers exceptional briskness and depth in every cup.

What Is Dimbula BOP Tea?

Indeed, Dimbula is one of Sri Lanka's most respected tea-producing districts. Its gardens sit between 3,500 and 5,000 feet above sea level. Cool mountain air, monsoon rains, and complex microclimates all work together to produce a tea of exceptional briskness. The result is a leaf with remarkable depth and a character unlike anywhere else in the world.

Furthermore, our Dimbula BOP tea earns its name from the grade — BOP, or Broken Orange Pekoe. The broken leaf has a greater surface area than whole-leaf grades. This means faster extraction and a stronger, richer cup. The liquor brews to a vivid coppery amber with real body and brightness.

Flavour, Character, and Occasion

In general, the character of this Dimbula BOP tea is boldly Ceylonese. It is brisk and clean on the palate, with a slight oakiness and a natural warmth. It takes milk with great ease, holding its character even with a generous splash. Yet it drinks equally well without.

By contrast with blended breakfast teas, this Brunswick Breakfast is a single-origin cup. Every leaf comes from the Dimbula district of Sri Lanka, a region growing world-class black tea since the 1870s. The high-grown terroir is distinctive and unmistakable. This is a character that no blended tea can replicate.

How to Brew Dimbula BOP Tea

Additionally, BOP grade tea responds well to full heat. Use freshly drawn water brought to a full rolling boil — 100°C is ideal. Use one heaped teaspoon per cup and steep for three to four minutes. For a stronger brew, increase the leaf rather than the steeping time to preserve brightness.

Moreover, this Dimbula BOP tea is excellent with whole milk added first, though it drinks cleanly without it. It is not suited to cold brewing. A proper breakfast cup — reliable, characterful, and thoroughly satisfying.

Finally, since 2008 High Teas London has been one of the UK's leading independent tea specialists. With over 350 teas sourced from the world's finest gardens, we look for genuine character and provenance. Dimbula BOP Brunswick Breakfast is a tea we are proud to carry.

Use freshly boiled water (95–100°C) and steep 1 teaspoon of tea for 3–5 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. It pairs well with milk due to its malty character.
