Our Dimbula OP1 Pettiagalla Estate loose leaf black tea is a refined single-estate Ceylon with deep coppery-amber liquor, rich malty depth and a bright citrus-floral finish. Grown in Sri Lanka’s Dimbula tea country, this elegant whole-leaf black tea is satisfying without heaviness and equally rewarding served black or with a splash of milk.

Dimbula OP1 Pettiagalla Estate Loose Leaf Black Tea

Pettiagalla Estate is associated with high-grown Ceylon tea of real clarity and character, and this OP1 selection shows exactly why. Similar specialist listings describe Pettiagalla teas as aromatic, smooth and mildly malty, with the Dimbula area contributing the bright, polished profile expected of a fine Sri Lankan black tea.

The Orange Pekoe 1 leaf gives the cup a more elegant, whole-leaf style than broken grades, allowing the tea to develop with balance rather than sheer force.

Rich Malt, Citrus Lift and a Floral Finish

In the cup, this Dimbula OP1 Pettiagalla Estate loose leaf black tea brews to a deep coppery-amber liquor with a bright, clean finish. The flavour is rich and gently malty at its core, lifted by a soft citrus note and a lingering floral sweetness that gives the tea refinement as well as body.

It is a composed, versatile black tea: substantial enough for the morning, yet polished enough for an afternoon cup taken slowly.

Whole-Leaf OP1 Ceylon with Estate Character

OP1, or Orange Pekoe 1, refers to a long, whole-leaf grade that tends to produce a more measured and elegant infusion than smaller broken grades. In this Pettiagalla Estate tea, that means brightness, smoothness and aromatic detail remain clearly present alongside the fuller malty body.

This makes it a strong choice for tea drinkers looking for a single-estate Ceylon with more distinction than an everyday blend.

A Versatile Ceylon for Morning or Afternoon

Dimbula OP1 Pettiagalla Estate works beautifully at either end of the day. Served black, it shows its brightness, gentle citrus lift and floral finish most clearly. With milk and a little sugar, the malty body becomes rounder and more comforting.

It is one of those estate teas that feels both dependable and quietly special.

How to Brew Dimbula OP1 Pettiagalla Estate

Use freshly boiled water at 95°C to 100°C and add one level teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes for a bright, balanced cup, or extend towards 5 minutes if you prefer greater body.

This tea carries milk well, though drinking it black is the best way to appreciate its citrus-floral lift and clean Dimbula finish. A second infusion is possible, but the first brew shows the tea at its best.

light but flavoursome

This single-estate tea is sold by many tea specialists and has a distinct flavour, more delicate than other Ceylon teas. High Teas offer it at a competitive price, you can pay a lot more for the same tea from other suppliers.
