Egyptian Chamomile Flowers is one of the finest loose leaf herbal teas available — a pure, single-ingredient infusion made entirely from whole chamomile flowers, selected for their exceptional quality and grown in the warm, dry conditions of Egypt that the chamomile plant thrives in. Naturally caffeine free and beautifully fragrant, this is a chamomile tea of real distinction: delicate, soothing, and entirely honest in its ingredients.

Chamomile has been treasured for thousands of years, cherished across ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome for its gentle, calming character. The small, sweet flowers used here are handpicked at their peak, preserving the essential oils that give the infusion its distinctive aroma and flavour. Brewed, they yield a soft golden cup — pale and luminous — with a naturally sweet, lightly honeyed taste and a clean, smooth finish. There is nothing sharp or astringent here; just a quiet, warming comfort in every sip.

As a pure whole-flower infusion, the quality of the chamomile itself is everything, and the Egyptian origin makes a genuine difference. The flowers grown in this region tend to be smaller and sweeter than chamomile grown elsewhere, producing a cup that is subtler and more refined than mass-produced chamomile tea bags. It is a herbal infusion that rewards a little stillness — best appreciated slowly, without rush.

High Teas London was founded in 2008 with a simple aim: to bring genuinely exceptional tea to as many cups as possible. With one of the largest collections in the country — over 350 teas and infusions carefully sourced from across the world — we take as much pride in our herbal and caffeine free range as we do in our single estate blacks and rare greens.

Ingredients: Whole chamomile flowers.

Brewing Note: Egyptian chamomile is best brewed with fully boiling water — 100°C — poured gently over the flowers. Use approximately one heaped teaspoon per cup and allow the flowers to steep for five to seven minutes, or a little longer if you prefer a stronger, more pronounced flavour. There is no need to rush the steep; the flowers release their natural sweetness gradually. Strain and enjoy as it is, or with a small drizzle of honey if you like your evening cup a touch sweeter. This infusion can also be brewed cold overnight in the fridge — add the flowers to cold water and leave for eight hours for a beautifully fresh, floral cold infusion.

A fair bit of sawdust

This is decent quality chamomile - the flowers are quite large, and it tastes right. My only reservation is that the flowers are accompanied by rather a high proportion of sawdust’ - the tiny bits of petal and stamens etc. that rather clog up the brew.

Honest Everyday Assam offers an expressive, long black leaf that brews into a medium copper cup with a slightly spicy, malty flavour. It’s smooth, rich, and ideal for everyday drinking.

Use freshly boiled water (95–100°C) and steep 1 teaspoon of tea for 3–5 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. It pairs well with milk due to its malty character.
