🍵 The Blend — A full-bodied house blend of black teas from Sri Lanka, Kenya, and India, packed into biodegradable triangular pyramid bags for a proper loose leaf brew without the pot
🍵 The Liquor — Coppery bright and richly warm, it pours with real depth and invites milk in the way only a well-built English Breakfast Tea blend can
🍵 The Character — Brisk Ceylon brightness, robust Kenyan body, and the rounded warmth of Indian Assam — thoroughly full-flavoured, with an urban confidence to it
🍵 The Occasion — Outstanding first thing in the morning with a generous splash of milk, and equally impressive brewed long and cooled over ice
This is the High Teas London house blend — previously known as London Breakfast Tea, and still the one we are quietly most proud of. It has something of the city's character about it: full-flavoured, direct, and thoroughly good with milk.
The blend draws on black teas from three of the world's great growing regions. Ceylon from Sri Lanka brings a clean briskness and natural brightness to the cup. Kenyan leaf adds depth and a robustness that holds firm without becoming heavy. Assam from India rounds everything out with warmth and body, lending the liquor that characteristic coppery brightness that marks a well-made breakfast blend. The result is a tea with real presence — rich in flavour, satisfying in weight, and with enough character to carry milk without losing itself.
What separates this from an ordinary breakfast tea bag is the pyramid. The triangular biodegradable bags used here give the leaf genuine space to move and open, circulating freely in the water the way it would in an infuser or pot. More porous than a standard flat bag, the pyramid brews faster, extracts more evenly, and delivers a noticeably fuller cup. There is no compromise on quality — this is a proper tea, in a bag that respects it.
It is equally at home over ice. Brewed slightly stronger and poured over a tall glass of cubes, it makes an exceptional iced tea — one of the cleanest and most refreshing you will find from a breakfast blend.
Since 2008, High Teas London has been one of the country's leading independent tea specialists, with one of the largest collections in the country — over 350 teas and infusions carefully sourced from the world's finest gardens. This house blend has been part of that story from the very beginning.
Ingredients: Black tea (Sri Lanka, Kenya, India).
Brewing Note: Use freshly drawn water brought to a full rolling boil, and steep the pyramid bag for 3 to 4 minutes for a bright, lively cup, or up to 5 minutes if you prefer more depth and strength. This blend was made to take milk well — a good splash of whole milk brings out the warmth of the Assam and softens the briskness of the Ceylon beautifully. For iced tea, brew two bags in 300ml of boiling water, steep for 4 minutes, then pour directly over a full glass of ice and top up if desired. The coppery liquor holds its colour and flavour exceptionally well when chilled.
