Our Formosa oolong loose leaf tea Poppy Fine Grade is a rich, long-fired Taiwanese oolong with warm amber liquor, smooth body and beautifully rounded depth. Woody, gently fruity and softly toasted, it offers a more mellow and comforting style than greener floral oolongs — a rewarding tea for slow afternoons, mindful brewing or anyone exploring oolong from a black tea background.
Formosa Oolong Loose Leaf Tea with Roasted Taiwanese Character
Formosa Oolong Poppy Fine Grade is a classic Taiwanese oolong with a deeper, more warming style. Rather than leaning towards fresh green notes and floral delicacy, this long-fired tea develops richer amber tones, baked warmth and a smooth, settled finish.
It is a wonderfully approachable oolong for those who enjoy fuller-bodied teas but want something more nuanced than a standard black tea.
Woody, Fruity and Softly Toasted
In the cup, this Formosa oolong loose leaf tea brews to a warm rich amber with a smooth, satisfying body. The flavour is gently woody and quietly fruity, layered with soft baked notes and a natural sweetness that builds gradually through the cup.
The roasting gives it a comforting depth without making it heavy, leaving a finish that lingers pleasantly and invites another sip.
A Long-Fired Oolong with Mellow Depth
Oolong tea sits between green and black tea in style, and the longer firing used here gives Poppy Fine Grade its distinctively rounded character. It feels less grassy and more developed than lighter Taiwanese oolongs, with a smoothness that makes it especially easy to enjoy.
The leaf is pure oolong, with no added flavourings, allowing the natural qualities of the tea to speak clearly.

A Rewarding Tea for Slow Afternoon Brewing
This tea suits unhurried drinking beautifully. It is calming without being flat, substantial without being heavy and especially appealing when you want a cup that gradually reveals itself.
It is also a fine choice for those moving from black tea towards oolong, as its warmth and depth provide a comfortable bridge between the two styles.
How to Brew Formosa Oolong Poppy Fine Grade
Use water at around 90°C to 95°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
A 3-minute brew keeps the tea lighter and slightly brighter. A 5-minute infusion draws out more roasted warmth, woodiness and body.
The leaves will give a second infusion with a little extra steeping time, often producing a softer and more settled cup.
