Our Ginseng Oolong loose leaf tea is a smooth, golden-green oolong dusted with powdered ginseng and liquorice root for a softly sweet, aromatic cup. Floral and lightly orchid-like, with a gentle ginseng note and a lingering natural sweetness, it is a beautifully distinctive loose leaf oolong that rewards slow brewing across multiple infusions.
Ginseng Oolong Loose Leaf Tea with Powdered Ginseng and Liquorice
Ginseng Oolong loose leaf tea is one of the most distinctive flavoured oolong styles, blending semi-oxidised tea leaves with powdered ginseng and liquorice root to create a cup that is fragrant, rounded and naturally sweet. Similar specialist teas are often sold under the traditional name Lan Gui Ren, and are prized for their smooth taste, floral aroma and enduring finish.
This version is elegant rather than overpowering. The ginseng and liquorice enhance the oolong base, allowing the leaf’s own soft floral character to remain at the heart of the cup.
Golden-Green, Floral and Softly Sweet
In the cup, this Ginseng Oolong loose leaf tea brews to a clear golden-green liquor with a smooth, gently invigorating character. The oolong brings light floral and orchid-like notes, while the ginseng adds a subtle earthy depth and the liquorice root rounds the finish with a long, natural sweetness.
It is a tea that feels layered but harmonious — aromatic, lightly sweet and especially rewarding when sipped slowly.
Lan Gui Ren Style Oolong for Multiple Infusions
Ginseng Oolong is often associated with Lan Gui Ren, a traditional style in which the tea is coated or compressed with powdered ginseng and liquorice. The tightly formed leaf gradually opens through repeated steepings, with the first two infusions usually offering the fullest aroma and sweetness.
This makes it a particularly satisfying tea for those who enjoy the slower ritual of loose leaf brewing rather than a single quick cup.

A Distinctive Oolong for Mid-Morning or Afternoon
Ginseng Oolong is a fine choice when you want something more expressive than a straightforward green or black tea. Its natural sweetness and rounded body make it especially appealing as a mid-morning or afternoon cup, while the evolving character across infusions gives it lasting interest.
How to Brew Ginseng Oolong Loose Leaf Tea
Use water at around 90°C to 95°C. A brief rinse before the first infusion is worthwhile: pour hot water over the leaves, swirl gently and discard after a few seconds.
Then add fresh hot water and steep for 5 to 8 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. The leaves will reward at least two further infusions, each one becoming slightly lighter and more delicate as the rolled leaf opens.
Ingredients
Oolong tea, powdered ginseng, liquorice root.
