Our Japanese matcha powder Finest Izu is a luxury-grade green tea powder made from shade-grown tencha and gyokuro leaves, stone-ground to a vivid emerald finish. Rich, silky and deeply satisfying, it offers full umami depth, a creamy whisked texture and a softly sweet, almost jammy character — an exceptional matcha to savour traditionally, prepare as a latte or enjoy chilled over ice.
Japanese Matcha Powder from Izu, Shizuoka
Finest Izu Matcha comes from Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture, one of the country’s most important tea-growing regions and home to a long tradition of finely crafted green teas.
This premium matcha is made from a distinctive combination of tencha and gyokuro leaves. Both are shade-grown before harvest, helping to develop the deep green colour, smoother texture and rich savoury-sweet character associated with high-quality Japanese green tea.
Luxury Matcha with Tencha and Gyokuro
Traditional matcha is commonly made from tencha alone. Finest Izu goes a step further by blending tencha with prized gyokuro green tea, creating a fuller and more layered cup.
The tencha brings vivid colour, body and classic matcha depth. The gyokuro contributes a silky mouthfeel, elegant sweetness and a light, clean astringency at the finish. Together, they produce a matcha with real refinement and complexity.
Smooth, Umami-Rich and Beautifully Creamy
When whisked, this Japanese matcha powder creates a thick, creamy foam and a striking emerald-green bowl. The flavour is deep and rounded, with pronounced umami, gentle sweetness and none of the harshness associated with lower-grade matcha.
It is a tea that rewards attention: rich enough to feel special, balanced enough to enjoy regularly and distinctive enough to appeal to serious matcha drinkers.

Excellent Traditionally Whisked or as a Matcha Latte
Prepared with water, Finest Izu Matcha gives a beautifully smooth, full-bodied bowl with creamy foam and a long, satisfying finish. It is ideal for those who want a more luxurious matcha experience than an everyday culinary-grade powder.
It also performs beautifully in a matcha latte. Whisked first with a little warm water, then topped with steamed milk, it becomes rich, smooth and indulgent without losing its distinctive green tea character.
How to Prepare Finest Izu Japanese Matcha Powder
Sift around 2g of matcha powder into a warmed bowl or cup. Add approximately 70ml of water at 75°C to 80°C.
Whisk briskly in a zigzag motion with a bamboo chasen until the surface becomes creamy and lightly foamy. A small hand whisk can also be used if needed.
For a matcha latte, whisk the powder with a small amount of hot water first, then top with steamed or cold milk. For an iced version, whisk with a little room-temperature water, then add cold water or pour over ice.
