Our Keemun loose leaf black tea Hao Ya A is one of China’s most distinguished black teas, prized for its rarity, refinement and remarkable depth of flavour. Spring-harvested in Anhui Province and carefully hand sorted twice, it brews to a bright golden-copper cup with warm baked aromas, dark berry richness, subtle oak and a smooth, wine-like finish — exceptional enjoyed black, yet full-bodied enough to take milk beautifully.
Keemun Loose Leaf Black Tea at Its Finest
Keemun Hao Ya A is a premium Chinese black tea for those who want something genuinely special in the cup. Produced in small quantities and selected with extraordinary care, it represents the most refined end of the classic Keemun style.
The leaf is harvested in spring, when it is at its most vibrant, then hand sorted before firing and again before packing. That attention to detail gives the finished tea its exceptional polish, clarity and complexity.
Rich, Wine-Like and Beautifully Structured
In the cup, this Keemun loose leaf black tea pours bright golden copper, with a warm baked aroma that immediately signals quality. The flavour is layered and sophisticated: hints of hot toast, dark berry, gentle oak and a smooth, long finish with a subtle Burgundy-like depth.
It is full-bodied without being heavy, rich without becoming coarse and aromatic enough to reward slow, attentive drinking.
Hao Ya A: A Rare and Refined Keemun Grade
Hao Ya A is one of the most prized Keemun styles, known for fine leaf, careful manufacture and outstanding aromatic complexity. Compared with more everyday Chinese black teas, it delivers greater definition, deeper flavour and a more lingering finish.
This is a benchmark tea for anyone who wants to understand why Keemun has long been held in such high regard.

A Tea to Savour, with or Without Milk
Keemun Hao Ya A is well worth trying plain first, where its full aromatic range is clearest and most rewarding. It is a superb choice for a considered afternoon tea or an unhurried morning cup when you want something more refined than a standard breakfast blend.
It also takes milk surprisingly well, creating a smoother, richer cup while preserving the tea’s distinctive depth.
How to Brew Keemun Hao Ya A
Use water at around 95°C, allowing freshly boiled water to cool briefly before pouring. Add 2 to 3g of leaf per 200ml and steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
A 2 to 3-minute brew brings out lighter, more floral notes. A 4-minute infusion deepens the wine-like richness, toastiness and body.
Taste it black on the first brew to appreciate the complexity of the leaf, then add milk on a second cup if desired.

Bit of a treat this one - and unusually, I tried a Keemun tea on its own rather than in a mix - it has a lovely rich, full flavour.
