Our Keemun loose leaf black tea Panda Special Grade 1 is an exceptional Chinese black tea with tightly twisted leaf, glowing reddish-amber liquor and remarkable aromatic depth. Smooth, refined and quietly complex, it offers notes of warm toast, dried fruit, orchid and a subtle wine-like richness — a tea to savour slowly, whether enjoyed black or with a small splash of milk.

Keemun Loose Leaf Black Tea from Anhui, China

Keemun Panda Special Grade 1 is one of China’s most admired black teas, grown in Qimen County in Anhui Province and crafted with the precision that has made Keemun famous among serious tea drinkers.

Its elegant leaf style, aromatic complexity and beautifully balanced cup place it well beyond an everyday black tea. This is a refined Chinese classic with genuine depth and poise.

Panda Special Grade 1 with Fine Twisted Leaf

The dry leaf is tightly twisted into slender, pine-needle strips using a painstaking gongfu production style that demands exceptional care to avoid damaging the leaf.

That skill shows clearly in the cup. The tea brews bright and clear, with a reddish-amber liquor and a smooth, polished character that develops gradually as you drink.

Toasty, Fruity and Gently Wine-Like

In the cup, this Keemun loose leaf black tea is aromatic and layered. A toasty warmth comes first, followed by notes of dried fruit, delicate orchid and a subtle, Burgundy-like depth that gives the tea its distinctive elegance.

The finish is smooth and lingering, with only the lightest astringency. It is full enough to feel satisfying, yet refined enough to remain graceful from first sip to last.

A Refined Tea for Afternoon or Evening

Keemun Panda Special Grade 1 is ideal for more contemplative tea drinking. It has enough body to sit comfortably alongside an afternoon spread, yet enough nuance to deserve being enjoyed on its own.

Milk works surprisingly well, drawing out some of the aromatic warmth, though drinking it black gives the clearest view of its fruit, floral and wine-like qualities.

How to Brew Keemun Panda Special Grade 1

Use water at 95°C to 100°C and add one teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes for a rounded, expressive brew.

Avoid over-steeping. For a stronger cup, use a little more leaf rather than extending the infusion too far.

A second infusion is worth trying, producing a lighter, more delicate cup with a softer aromatic profile.
