Our Kenyan loose leaf black tea from Lelsa Estate is a bold, prize-winning FBOP with deep coppery liquor, lively malty strength and a bright, refreshing finish. Grown in the renowned Kericho tea district, it offers floral lift, a hint of jammy sweetness and the kind of robust character that makes it especially satisfying with milk.

Kenyan Loose Leaf Black Tea from Lelsa Estate

Lelsa Estate lies in the Tinderet district of Kericho, one of Africa’s most celebrated tea-growing areas. Grown at high altitude just off the equator, this single-estate black tea combines brightness, body and consistency in a cup with real presence.

The FBOP grade, or Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe, gives a faster, fuller infusion than larger whole-leaf teas. It produces generous colour, brisk flavour and the satisfying strength many black tea drinkers look for.

Bold, Malty and Bright in the Cup

In the cup, this Kenyan loose leaf black tea brews to a deep coppery-amber liquor with excellent clarity. The flavour is boldly malty at its core, lifted by gentle floral notes and a subtle jammy sweetness.

Its brisk astringency gives the finish real definition. The tea feels strong and refreshing rather than heavy, making it a rewarding choice for those who enjoy a black tea with energy and structure.

A Strong Single-Estate Tea That Loves Milk

Lelsa FBOP is particularly good with milk. A splash softens the briskness, rounds the malt and creates a smooth, full-bodied cup that still retains plenty of flavour.

It is equally enjoyable without milk for those who want to appreciate its brighter floral edge and clean Kenyan character in full. Either way, this is a tea built to satisfy.

A Fine Everyday Kenyan Black Tea

This is an excellent black tea for mornings, mid-morning refills or afternoons when you want a cup with more strength and bite. Its broken-leaf grade gives it a dependable, flavourful brew that performs beautifully day after day.

For customers who enjoy robust breakfast teas but want a more distinctive single-estate option, Kenya Lelsa Estate FBOP is a very strong choice.

How to Brew Kenya Lelsa Estate FBOP

Use freshly boiled water at 95°C to 100°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes.

Because FBOP is a broken-grade tea, it brews quickly. Taste at around 3 minutes and extend slightly if you prefer more strength. There is no need to push the infusion much further.

For a cup with milk, the shorter end of the brewing range works especially well, allowing the tea to remain bold, clean and balanced.

Remarkably versatile.

Lelsa Estate FBOP responds remarkably well to adjustments in brew strength, time or temperature to produce a whole range of finely flavoured drinks. These again may be adjusted by adding a little milk. I often drink a less strong black brew when I have just woken in the morning but also drink it stronger with a little milk throughout the day. A lovely tea!
