Our Nilgiri loose leaf black tea from Tiger Hill Estate is a bright, fragrant FBOP with coppery liquor, rounded body and a naturally sweet, floral-fruity finish. Grown high in the Blue Mountains of South India and selected from the estate’s prized January harvest, it offers unusual depth for a broken-grade tea — elegant enough to enjoy black, yet robust enough to take milk beautifully.
Nilgiri Loose Leaf Black Tea from Tiger Hill Estate
Tiger Hill Estate lies in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu, one of South India’s most distinctive tea-growing regions. This single-estate FBOP black tea is harvested during the estate’s highly regarded January quality period, when cooler, drier conditions help concentrate flavour in the leaf.
The result is a Nilgiri tea with real definition: bright, aromatic and more substantial than its graceful appearance might suggest.
Floral, Fruit-Led and Beautifully Rounded
In the cup, this Nilgiri loose leaf black tea brews to a clear coppery liquor with excellent brightness. The flavour is gently brisk yet smooth, with fruit-like sweetness, soft floral lift and a lingering, naturally rounded finish.
It has a fuller texture than many broken-grade teas, giving it enough depth to satisfy while retaining the elegance that makes good Nilgiri black tea so appealing.
FBOP Grade with High-Grown South Indian Character
The FBOP grade, or Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe, produces a lively, expressive infusion with good colour and efficient flavour release. At Tiger Hill, that broken leaf still carries a refined single-estate character rather than simply delivering strength.
This tea reflects what makes fine Nilgiri teas stand apart: fragrance, clarity, balance and a smooth cup that remains lively without becoming sharp.

A Versatile Black Tea for Morning or Afternoon
Tiger Hill FBOP is rewarding enough to drink plain, where its floral and fruit-led qualities come through most clearly. It also works very well with milk, becoming softer and more rounded without losing its bright character.
That versatility makes it a particularly useful tea to keep in the cupboard — distinctive enough for slow appreciation, but easy enough to enjoy as an everyday black tea.
How to Brew Nilgiri Tiger Hill FBOP
Use freshly boiled water at 100°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
A 3-minute brew gives a brighter, more floral cup. A 4-minute infusion brings out greater body and depth. Because the FBOP leaf brews quickly, avoid over-steeping if you want to preserve its smoothness and clean finish.
Serve black to appreciate its fruit-like character, or add a small amount of milk for a rounder cup.
