Organic Assam Loose Leaf Black Tea from Tonganagaon Estate
Tonganagaon is a small organic tea garden in Assam’s eastern valley, close to the edge of the Namdapha natural reserve. Its position in this remarkable landscape, combined with careful cultivation and orthodox tea making, gives the estate a distinctive identity.
This tea is graded FTGFOP1, or Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe First Grade. The presence of golden tips in the leaf signals careful selection and a more refined style of Assam black tea.
Silky, Malty and Gently Spiced
In the cup, Tonganagaon brews to a warm copper-bright liquor with satisfying body and excellent smoothness. The malt is unmistakably Assam, but it is handled with poise rather than weight.
A gently spiced aromatic note lifts the cup, while faint toasted nuances add depth. The finish is clean and rounded, making this a tea that feels polished from first sip to last.
A Refined Organic Assam with Real Poise
This is an Assam for those who want richness without heaviness. It has enough strength to feel rewarding, yet enough elegance to enjoy slowly and without milk.
Organic cultivation and careful orthodox processing help preserve a more nuanced character than many more commercial Assam teas, allowing the leaf’s natural aroma, malt and finish to stand out clearly.

Excellent Black or with Milk
Taken black, Tonganagaon shows its smoother side: aromatic, gently spicy and clean on the finish. With a little whole milk, the tea becomes rounder and more comforting, while still retaining its single-estate character.
It is a fine choice for an unhurried morning cup or a calm mid-afternoon brew when you want an Assam with more elegance and individuality.
How to Brew Organic Tonganagaon Assam Tea
Use freshly drawn water at 95°C to 100°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes for a smooth, rounded result, or extend to 5 minutes if you prefer more depth and body.
Filtered water can help show the clarity of a tea at this grade. Try it black first to appreciate the spiced aroma and clean finish, then add milk if desired.
Ingredients
Organic Assam black tea, Camellia sinensis.
