Smooth, fruity and gently spiced, it reveals notes of stone fruit and baked apple in a cup that rewards slow afternoon drinking without milk.
Organic Darjeeling Makaibari 2nd Flush Loose Leaf Tea
Makaibari is one of Darjeeling’s most historically significant tea estates, established in the nineteenth century and widely associated with pioneering organic and biodynamic tea cultivation. The estate also retains extensive forest cover, which forms a defining part of its distinctive ecological setting.
This second flush FTGFOP1 selection captures the fuller, warmer character of early summer Darjeeling, when the leaf develops the aromatic depth and muscatel sweetness for which the season is prized.
Muscatel, Stone Fruit and Gentle Spice
In the cup, this Organic Darjeeling Makaibari 2nd Flush loose leaf tea brews to a clear amber-gold liquor with a sweet, lifted aroma. The flavour is soft, full and expressive, with classic muscatel character, ripe stone-fruit warmth, baked apple-like sweetness and a gently spiced finish.
Comparable Makaibari second flush teas are often described as aromatic, fruity, floral and best enjoyed black, which fits this tea’s refined, layered profile particularly well.
FTGFOP1 Organic Estate Tea with Exceptional Provenance
The FTGFOP1 grade indicates a carefully selected orthodox leaf with fine tips and a polished finished appearance. Combined with Makaibari’s estate reputation, organic credentials and distinctive second flush character, this is a tea with genuine provenance and a cup to match.
It is elegant without being delicate, complex without becoming difficult and especially rewarding for Darjeeling drinkers who value depth, fragrance and a clear sense of origin.

Makaibari second flush is a tea to drink with attention. It is best enjoyed black, allowing the muscatel sweetness, fruit depth and refined estate character to remain clear in the cup.
It is especially well suited to the afternoon, when its aromatic complexity and smooth, unhurried finish can be fully appreciated.
How to Brew Makaibari 2nd Flush FTGFOP1
Use water at around 90°C to 95°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
A 3-minute brew gives a brighter, more lifted cup. A 4-minute infusion develops fuller fruit depth and a more rounded muscatel character.
Serve without milk to preserve the tea’s aromatic clarity. A warmed pot or glass teapot is well suited to a tea of this quality.
