Our Organic Darjeeling Monteviot GBOP loose leaf tea is a smooth, rewarding single-estate black tea with bright coppery-amber liquor, gentle muscatel warmth and a clean, lightly brisk finish. Produced from organic leaf at the historic Monteviot garden in Darjeeling’s Kurseong valley, this is an elegant everyday Darjeeling with more depth and character than its broken-leaf grade might suggest.

Organic Darjeeling Monteviot GBOP Loose Leaf Tea from a Historic Estate

Monteviot is one of Darjeeling’s oldest and smallest tea gardens, located in the Kurseong valley and known for producing organic teas with clear estate character. Specialist and trade descriptions of Monteviot GBOP highlight its finely worked broken leaf, full-bodied cup and gently spicy or aromatic finish, making it a particularly appealing Darjeeling for regular drinking.

This organic GBOP selection offers a more accessible style of estate Darjeeling: bright, smooth and expressive, yet easy enough to enjoy often.

Smooth, Floral and Gently Muscatel

In the cup, this Organic Darjeeling Monteviot GBOP loose leaf tea brews to a vivid coppery-amber infusion with satisfying depth. The flavour is rounded and smooth, with a soft floral lift, a gentle muscatel note and a lightly brisk finish that keeps the cup lively without becoming sharp.

It is fuller than a very delicate Darjeeling, but still carries the clarity and aromatic poise that make the region so distinctive.

Organic GBOP Leaf with Everyday Appeal

GBOP, or Golden Broken Orange Pekoe, is a broken-leaf grade that releases flavour more quickly than whole-leaf styles while still retaining complexity and brightness. Monteviot GBOP is commonly presented by specialist tea sellers as a strong yet refined organic Darjeeling with enough structure for regular drinking and enough nuance to be enjoyed attentively.

That makes it a particularly good choice for customers who want an organic estate Darjeeling that feels special, but not overly delicate or precious.

At a Glance

  • Tea type: Organic loose leaf black tea
  • Origin: Monteviot Estate, Darjeeling, India
  • Grade: GBOP, Golden Broken Orange Pekoe
  • Liquor: Bright coppery amber
  • Flavour: Smooth, floral, gently muscatel and lightly brisk
  • Best enjoyed: Black or with a small splash of milk

A Refined Everyday Organic Darjeeling

Monteviot GBOP is well suited to mid-morning or afternoon drinking. It is especially pleasing without milk, which allows the floral lift and soft muscatel character to remain clear, though a small splash works well if you prefer a rounder cup.

For customers looking for a high-quality organic Darjeeling with genuine estate identity and good everyday drinkability, this is a very strong choice.

How to Brew Monteviot Organic GBOP

Use water at around 90°C to 95°C and add one teaspoon per cup. Steep for 2 to 3 minutes.

A shorter brew keeps the cup lighter and more aromatic. A slightly fuller infusion brings out greater body and a more rounded finish.

Because the leaf is broken, it infuses quickly. If you prefer a stronger cup, add a little more leaf rather than extending the steep too far. This tea is lovely without milk, but takes a small splash gracefully.

Tea good but service could be better

The tea and selection of teas is great. However I sent two emails regarding delivery and never got a reply.

Darjeeling

I bought this for my mother because so many darjeeling teas have become stronger recently and she loves it. It’s the best tea she’s had in a while.

Beautiful surprise

I actually bought this just to top up my order for free shipping and am so thrilled I did. I am new to tea and trying lots lately. The smell is divine and the taste so unique and distinct. This has character and is in my daily routine of which tea to treat myself with as a mini break.

Tea OK - service poor

Still waiting for the second part of my order. No explanation, no tea. Please respond.

Hi
You should have received a mail explaining the problem.

Use freshly boiled water (95–100°C) and steep 1 teaspoon of tea for 3–5 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. It pairs well with milk due to its malty character.
