Our Organic Honeybush loose leaf tea East Cape is a naturally caffeine free South African herbal infusion with a warm red-gold cup, gentle honey-like sweetness and a smooth, comforting finish. Lighter and sweeter than rooibos, it is wonderfully easy to enjoy at any hour — plain, with milk or served chilled over ice.

Organic Honeybush Loose Leaf Tea from South Africa

East Cape Organic Honeybush is a pure herbal infusion made from the Cyclopia shrub, grown in the Cape regions of South Africa and valued for its naturally sweet, mellow character. Specialist tea retailers consistently present organic Honeybush as a smooth, caffeine free alternative to traditional tea and rooibos, with a softer, gently honeyed cup.

This organic loose leaf version contains nothing added, allowing the natural warmth and delicate floral sweetness of the Honeybush to come through clearly.

Naturally Sweet, Smooth and Gently Floral

In the cup, this Organic Honeybush loose leaf tea brews to a deep red-gold infusion with a rounded, easy-drinking body. The flavour is softly sweet and mellow, with honey-like warmth, a light floral note and a clean finish that remains smooth from first sip to last.

Compared with rooibos, Honeybush is often described as a little sweeter and lighter in character, making it especially appealing for those who enjoy caffeine free infusions with a naturally soft profile.

A Naturally Caffeine Free Herbal Tea

Because Honeybush contains no tea leaves, it is naturally caffeine free and well suited to morning drinking, quiet afternoon moments or a calming evening cup. Its naturally low-tannin style also gives it a notably smooth finish, even with a longer steep.

It is pleasant without milk or sugar, though both can be added if preferred, and it also makes an excellent naturally sweet iced infusion.

A Comforting Herbal Infusion for Any Time of Day

East Cape Organic Honeybush is one of those infusions that feels easy to return to. It is satisfying without heaviness, naturally sweet without being sugary and smooth enough for evening drinking when a conventional black tea would feel too stimulating.

It is equally rewarding served cold, where the sweetness becomes lighter and more refreshing.

How to Brew East Cape Organic Honeybush

Use freshly boiled water at 100°C and add 1 to 2 heaped teaspoons per cup. Steep for 5 to 7 minutes for a rounded, naturally sweet infusion.

Honeybush is forgiving and can be brewed a little longer if you prefer a deeper, warmer cup. Drink it plain, add a splash of milk, or stir in a little honey if desired.

For an iced version, brew a slightly stronger pot, allow it to cool, then pour over ice.

Superb

Marvellous brew. Tempting floral aroma, delicious lingering aftertaste of bramble jelly. And it’s caffeine-free for a bonus!

Good Fresh Tea

Loving getting back to loose leaf tea (as opposed to teabags) and in particular Honeybush tea which I've not had since leaving South Africa in '96. This honeybush tea has a slightly different flavour to what I've been used to, but is still refreshing and very enjoyable. Will definitely order again

A very special rooibos

A distinctive elegant tea. With a slightly refreshing aftertaste.
As I am not allowed to drink too much of my favorite black teas, especially Assam and Nilgiri this East Cape organic Honeybush is a very tastefull alternative.
