🍵 The Blend — A smooth, lightly processed green tea leaf combined with whole dried peppermint, creating a clean, two-note infusion with a natural freshness that neither ingredient could achieve alone

🍵 The Colour — A pale, clear liquor with a soft golden-green hue, light on the eye and crisp on the palate, with the menthol coolness of the mint lifting the gentle body of the green tea

🍵 The Character — Fresh and quietly cooling, with the grassy sweetness of green tea underpinning a bright mint note — invigorating without being sharp, and naturally sweet without any added flavouring

🍵 The Occasion — A beautifully versatile cup: warming and clarifying in the morning, soothing and clean after meals, and equally rewarding cooled over ice on warmer days

Peppermint green tea is one of those combinations that feels almost inevitable — two clean, fresh flavours that complement each other so naturally it is hard to imagine them apart. This loose leaf version brings together a smooth green tea base and whole dried peppermint in a blend that is simple, elegant, and quietly satisfying in a way that more elaborate teas sometimes are not.

Green tea has been cultivated and consumed across East Asia for thousands of years, prized for its light, grassy character and the way minimal processing preserves the natural freshness of the leaf. Peppermint, a natural hybrid of watermint and spearmint, has its own long and distinguished history — first recorded in England in the late seventeenth century, though its use in ancient Egyptian and Greek medicine stretches back far further. The menthol oils that give peppermint its characteristic cooling sensation are among the most recognised aromatic compounds in the plant world, and here they work in precise harmony with the green tea rather than overwhelming it.

The result in the cup is a pale golden-green liquor that is clean, smooth and gently cooling. The green tea provides a light, slightly sweet body with a soft grassiness, while the peppermint adds clarity and a crisp, refreshing lift. The finish is clean and lingering — the kind of cup that leaves the palate feeling rinsed and ready. There is no bitterness when brewed correctly, and no need for milk or sweetener. This is a mint green tea that rewards attention rather than demanding it.

It works beautifully as a morning cup for those who prefer something lighter and less malty than black tea, and is particularly well suited to drinking after meals, where the mint's traditional association with digestion makes it a considered and pleasurable choice. Cooled and poured over ice, it becomes something else again — one of the more satisfying cold teas in the range.

Since 2008, High Teas London has been one of the country's leading independent tea specialists. With over 350 teas and infusions — one of the largest collections available anywhere in the country — we have spent more than fifteen years seeking out teas that offer something genuinely worth drinking, from celebrated single-estate classics to quiet everyday discoveries like this one.

Ingredients: Green tea, peppermint.

Brewing Note: Green tea is more delicate than it is often given credit for, and the temperature of the water matters more than most people realise. For Peppermint Green, use water at around 80°C rather than a full boil — water that is too hot can turn the green tea bitter and flatten the mint rather than brightening it. Steep for 2 to 3 minutes, then remove the leaves promptly. If you prefer a stronger mint presence, steep for the full 3 minutes; if you want the green tea character to come forward more clearly, 2 minutes will serve you better. This tea also makes a very good cold brew — simply place the leaves in cold water and leave overnight in the fridge for a smooth, naturally sweet infusion that is particularly refreshing in warmer weather.

Use freshly boiled water (95–100°C) and steep 1 teaspoon of tea for 3–5 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. It pairs well with milk due to its malty character.
