Our Russian Samovar loose leaf black tea is a smooth, aromatic blend inspired by traditional Russian tea drinking, with a rich amber cup, rounded black tea body and a gentle lingering smoky note. Soft rather than heavy and warming without being overpowering, it is a deeply satisfying loose leaf black tea for slow mornings, relaxed afternoons or an unhurried evening pot.
Russian Samovar Loose Leaf Black Tea with Gentle Smoky Depth
Russian Samovar Blend is a pure black tea crafted in the spirit of old samovar-style teas: aromatic, softly rounded and touched with a delicate smokiness rather than a dominant smoked character. Similar specialist retailers describe Russian Samovar teas as based on an old Russian recipe, smooth in the cup and lightly smoky in finish.
The result is a tea that feels warming and characterful, yet remains easy to enjoy across the day.
Smooth, Aromatic and Subtly Smoky
In the cup, this Russian Samovar loose leaf black tea brews to a deep, rich amber liquor with a full but balanced body. The flavour is softly aromatic and well-rounded, with a faint woody-smoky note that lingers gently through the finish.
It is more refined than a strongly smoked black tea, making it a very approachable choice for drinkers who enjoy warmth and depth without the intensity of a Lapsang-style cup.
Inspired by Traditional Russian Tea Culture
The samovar has long been associated with Russian tea drinking, keeping water hot for extended, sociable tea sessions and supporting a slower, more convivial way of serving tea. This blend reflects that tradition in flavour rather than ceremony alone: a tea to pour generously, sip gradually and return to through the day.

A Tea for Slow, Warming Moments
Russian Samovar Blend is equally comfortable as a morning cup, an afternoon pot for two or a long, leisurely evening brew. Brewed lighter, it feels elegant and softly aromatic. Brewed stronger, it takes milk or sugar well in the spirit of traditional Russian tea service.
How to Brew Russian Samovar Blend
Use freshly boiled water at 100°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 4 to 5 minutes to allow the rounded black tea character and gentle smoky note to develop fully.
For a stronger, more traditional samovar-style brew, use a generous measure of leaf in a small pot, steep for up to 7 minutes, then dilute to taste with hot water. This tea is enjoyable plain and also takes milk or sugar well.
