Our Yunnan loose leaf black tea Ying Ming is a smooth, full-bodied Chinese black tea with warm amber-red liquor, elegant golden tips and a naturally sweet, rounded finish. Harvested seasonally in the mountain province of Yunnan, it offers a softer and more mellow character than many stronger black teas — refined enough to enjoy plain, yet substantial enough to take a small splash of milk.
Yunnan Loose Leaf Black Tea from South-West China
Ying Ming is a fine seasonal black tea from Yunnan, one of China’s most important and historic tea-growing provinces. Grown at altitude and harvested only during the spring months of March and April, it develops a clean, bright liquor and the attractive golden-tipped leaf associated with quality Yunnan black tea.
This is a tea with generous flavour but a gentle manner: rich in the cup, smooth on the palate and quietly elegant from first sip to last.
Golden-Tipped Flowery Orange Pekoe Leaf
The Flowery Orange Pekoe grade gives Ying Ming its wiry, well-formed leaf and visible golden tips. These tips signal careful seasonal plucking and contribute to the tea’s soft sweetness and polished character.
When brewed, the leaves produce a clear amber-red liquor with warmth, brightness and none of the dullness that can mark lower-grade Chinese black teas.
Smooth, Full-Bodied and Naturally Sweet
In the cup, this Yunnan loose leaf black tea is rounded and mellow, with a satisfying body and a softly lingering finish. It has depth without heaviness and sweetness without added flavouring.
Compared with a bold Assam or brisk Ceylon, Ying Ming feels smoother and more composed — a quietly rewarding black tea for those who enjoy richness without excessive astringency.

A Versatile Morning or Afternoon Black Tea
Ying Ming works beautifully as a morning tea when you want something flavourful but not overly forceful. It is equally pleasing later in the day as a smoother alternative to more tannic black teas.
Drink it plain to appreciate the natural sweetness of the leaf, or add a small amount of milk for a softer, fuller cup.
How to Brew Ying Ming Yunnan Black Tea
Use freshly boiled water at 95°C to 100°C and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
A 3-minute infusion gives a lighter, more delicate cup. A 5-minute brew brings fuller body and a more pronounced black tea character.
This tea is especially rewarding served black, though it takes milk well if preferred.

This is honestly my favourite black tea
A fine example of a Yunnan tea, similar to the higher grade and more expensive Yunnan Imperial, having the same characteristic chocolatey finish – at least, that's my personal description of it! Lots of pleasing flavours, making it a lovely afternoon sipping tea, with or without a drop of milk.
Smooth enjoyable breakfast/afternoon tea.
