Thiashola Estate is a pioneer in biodynamic agriculture and produces arguably the finest black tea in the South of India. Its multicoloured, uneven leaf is reminiscent of first flush teas in Assam. This flavourful organic tea from the Thiashola estate has bright amber leaf and cup colour and a lively refreshing flavour with notes of citrus and honey. Strong and full-bodied. Good with milk and sugar. Nilgiri, meaning 'blue mountain', refers to a mountain tea district in the south of India high above the plains where top quality teas are cultivated. The taste and freshness are reminiscent of the best Ceylon teas but typically are sweeter in the cup.

Best tea for brewing in thermos

I found many great teas to be not suitable for brewing in thermos. Most of them over-brew with extensive release of ingredients - so-called over-extraction, which comes with striking single taste descriptors and makes them not pleasant to drink. This tea loves to be brewed in thermos! It provides taste that reminds Indian teas from my childhood. I hope and am looking forward for this tea to be back in stock.

P.S. I tried many teas in thermos: Rwanda and Kenya, Chinese Keemun, Nilgiri Tiger Hill but somehow they don't work. Honeybush is perfect for cold weather but it is different kind of tea, which not always work for my friends when we hike together.

Delightful range of delicate flavours

We found this Nilgiri tea best made on the weak side and sipped without milk to enjoy all its nuances of flavour. It certainly lives up to the top classification grade.

A really lovely tea

This is a gorgeous tea, tasty but not overpowering. It feels clear and clean and I am greatly enjoying it.

I have not started on this packet yet

I know from having bought this before that it is delicious - and I even visited the estate when I lived in India.
