A very aromatic medium leaf tea with a round and spicy bouquet. Ilam Estate tea has a Darjeeling-like character with good muscatel flavour - muscatel refers to a distinctive flavour found in some Darjeeling teas, especially the second-flush teas. It has been described as a distinct sweet flavour that is not present in other flushes or tea from other localities. A unique muscat-like fruitiness in aroma and flavour - qualities highly prized by tea aficionados.

I expected, from the description, great surprises, but sadly got none at all. Rather insipid. Must be my taste buds.
I was hoping this tea would be a convincing substitute for my favourite 2nd Flush Darjeeling which is proving very difficult to find (or at least at an affordable price). The website promised a muscatel note but I don't get that. However, it makes a perfectly enjoyable cup of tea.
The best afternoon tea available. I first met Ilam tea in a tea shop in Ely many years ago and I have drunk nothing else in the afternoon since. It took me a little time to find a supplier but you have kept me supplied over the years. Thank you
Dark copper colour. Refreshing, mildly astringent tea.
Enjoyable as breakfast brew and actually at any time of the day. Very good tea indeed.
